To get to know and love nature, as the most beautiful of all areas of recreation, is easy in the Alpbach mountains.The fascination with nature begins already in the morning on your sun-terrace. The panoramic view of the mountains will entice you to go out and explore the surrounding landscape. Well sign-posted hiking and Nordic- Walking paths as well as the mountain-biking routes will enable you to get close to the mountain world. The ideal complement to your hiking holiday in the Tyrol is a visit to the lake area around the Brandenberg river.

Alpbach – Austria´s most beautiful holiday resort

Your starting point for all the summer activities in the Tyrol is the attractive village of Alpbach, home to the Wildbachhof. Thanks to the traditional and uniform building style and the wonderful flower and plant decorations, Alpbach has been awarded the titles of “Austria´s most beautiful village” in 1983 and “Europe´s most beautiful flower village” in 1993. Come and experience for yourselves the distinctive atmosphere and the natural charm that exists at an altitude of 1000 m above sea-level.

The “Reintaler Lakes” are only a few minutes from Kramsach and excel in their special position. Above average sun hours warm up the lakes and are appreciated by the visitors. This factor causes the water temperatures of the lakes to be around 25 degrees Celsius and the nearby restaurants, boat-hires and lawns complete the necessary infrastructure.

Lauserland

The "Lauserland" is a adventure playground directly beneath the top station of the Wiedersbergerhornbahn in Alpbach. It combines fun, excitement and a wonderful view. Double slides, trampoline, robe slide, wooden zoo, pump fountain, water stream to damp up, water wheel, pond, balancing stones, swings, boulder net, boulder tree, and much more. Parents will find close by two nice restaurants.

There is a lot to discover on more than 900 km of hiking routes in our Alpbach hiking region. You will enjoy walking through exciting gorges and ravines or just strolling along easy paths in the valley or on the mountains. They will lead you to more than 30 alpine huts with catering. You can admire the alpine flora along the way and with a bit of luck you will even be able to watch the local marmots.

800 kilometres, 32 stages and various side routes are the reason why keen mountain-bikers love the “Bike Trail Tirol”. The most extensive round course in the alps may be combined with various side routes and can be lenghtened or shortened exactly according to your abilities or desire.

The excellent mountainbike infrastructure enables an active recreation with its various tour possibilities and trails.

Watersports in the Tyrol combine the experience of nature and adventure in a most exciting way. The ravines, gorges and water-paths of the Brandenberg river are the setting for pipe-riding, kayaking and rafting. For the ones looking for the special kick, white water swimming in the Kaiserklamm is just the thing. The century old watercourse leads you to the crystal clear pools below the waterfalls, jumping, swimming and sliding.

For families with small children we suggest the “Juppi Magic Forest Walk”. Starting at the top station of the Reitherkogel cable car you pass through various play themes such as a forest playground, a stilt forest, balancing logs. a wood-horse and lots more. On you go to the “Fürst farmhouse” with a mini zoo. In the next play station you will find water paths, a ghost moor, a witches house and other attractions. Back at the top station of the cable car your children can enjoy the adventure playground before your descent.

Hiking enthusiasts will be delighted by the “Kaiserhaus Rumpfalm Tour”. Starting at the Kaiserhaus going through the breathtaking Kaiser gorge via the Trauersteg to the Rumpfalm, where you shall try some real local specialities. Via an agricultural track the tour will continue to the Erzherzog Johann Klause and back to the Kaiserhaus.

A special tip for an easy stroll is the “Kaiser gorge near Brandenberg” – it only takes you 30 minutes for this scenic walk.

The “Ethnology Walk” around Alpbach is a theme walk with fabulous panoramic views of the village of Alpbach. More than 50 display boards will inform you about the local flora and fauna. Equipped with an informative brochure you can begin with the discovery tour “easier learning walk”. Brain calisthenics around the Berglsteinersee makes brain and body fitter.

For the more ambitious mountain hikers we suggest the “Rofan Range Mountain Route”. Starting at the Sonnwendjoch chair lift in Kramsach you go to the top station where you ascend to the Rosskogel, pass the Zireiner lake, called the “eye of the Rofan range” and then have a short rest. You continue via the Schafsteig (sheep path) and the Schafsteigsattel up to the Sagzahn where you reach an altitude of 2.228 metres. Following a well secured climbing path you reach the Vorderes Sonnwendjoch at 2.224 metres. There you will experience the feeling of elation and success of the mountaineer and enjoy the indescribably beautiful panoramic view.
